Dear friends,
Taking into account the state emergency situation declared by the Latvian government on 12 March 2020 as a result of the spread of Covid-19, we shall temporary stop the registration for Rimi Riga Marathon till 14 April 2020 due to force majeure. We still hope that the situation both worldwide and in Latvia will stabilize, and that Rimi Riga Marathon will go on as planned on May 16-17.
It’s unfortunate that force majeure has hit us while preparing a very special 30th birthday race. We, however, fully and strongly support the Latvian Government’s decision to declare the state emergency situation till 14 April 2020 in order to fight the spread of Covid-19.
If we get over the Covid-19 crisis (and we certainly hope we will), you can be sure that the 30th birthday race will be a special one – a set of impressive new courses, amazing medals (yet to be announced), an array of green and charity initiatives as well as proper birthday celebrations in the City.
Please cheer up, keep on training, wash your hands, and follow the advise of epidemiologists. Thank you for your trust and we’ll see each other soon!
With best regards,
Aigars Nords
Race Director of Rimi Riga Marathon
